Sew up a basic pillow and then personalize it by adding a custom-designed pillowcase using one of the five included design templates along with fabric crayons and/or permanent markers ... or create your own unique design!
This is a Sew Better Together project, which is designed to support those new to sewing in the creation of clothing and other items for their 18-inch friends. This includes hands-on participation in the construction of the items, as well as a variety of opportunities to add a personal touch and develop true ownership in the finished product.
This pattern uses only basic sewing techniques with ample instructions and photos. All that is needed is at least one participant familiar with the basic use of a sewing machine, including threading the machine and completing basic straight and zigzag stitches. This person should also be mature enough to know how to handle tools safely, such as a hot iron or sharp needles.

PILLOW:
– Fabric – scrap of woven fabric, such as cotton, ticking or broadcloth (enough for two 5×7-inch pieces)
– Thread
– Polyester fiberfill stuffing
PILLOWCASE:
– Fabric – scrap fabric (enough for
two 6×9-inch pieces) IMPORTANT: If you are planning to iron on a crayon design, be sure to use the type of fabric specified on the crayon box. Polyester or other 100% synthetic fabrics are often recommended.
– Thread
– Fabric crayons (optional)
– Fine-tip permanent markers (optional)
